Reactivo de Oxfam al informe de Zucman para la presidencia brasileña del G20 sobre tributación de los superricos
El informe del economista Gabriel Zucman publicado hoy, y que será formalmente presentado en el G20 en la próxima reunión de ministros de finanzas y gobernadores de bancos centrales en julio, plantea una propuesta de estándar global para la tributación de los superricos. En respuesta, Amitabh Behar, director ejecutivo interino de Oxfam Internacional, declara:
“Es una propuesta rigurosa y razonable, que además representa los intereses económicos estratégicos de cualquier gobierno. Todos los países G20 deberían respaldar el impulso de Brasil para lograr el primer acuerdo en la historia para para gravar a los superricos. Acogemos con satisfacción el informe de Zucman, que aporta soluciones concretas y esenciales frente a un sistema que permite a los ultrarricos pagar muy pocos impuestos mientras acumulan unos niveles astronómicos de riqueza e ingresos, a menudo ocultos para muchos gobiernos.”
“Por fin los gobiernos se están tomando en serio una agenda de tributación a los ultrarricos. Significa que están escuchando el descontento de una sociedad que ya no tolera que quienes más tienen no paguen lo que les corresponde desde hace tanto tiempo. El informe de Zucman tiene la virtud de ser un espejo de lo que la ciudadanía en general piensa, y hasta lo que muchos multimillonarios están reclamando.”

“Con una tributación más efectiva a los superricos se podrían recaudar miles de millones de dólares, que son absolutamente vitales para cualquier gobierno a la hora de hacer frente a la desigualdad y combatir la crisis climática. Sin duda alguna, los gobiernos deben actuar a nivel nacional. Pero una coordinación internacional sería también en su propio interés, porque los superricos aprovechan al máximo todas las rendijas entre jurisdicciones para pagar menos impuestos. El informe de Zucman les manda un mensaje muy claro a los superricos: ‘riqueza y poder ya no serán el escudo que les proteja ante la responsabilidad de pagar lo que les corresponde’. Puede ser sin duda un paso fundamental para lograr reconstruir una sociedad rota, divida y desigual.”
